All About Viking Recreation Center
Viking Recreation Center opened in 1990 with 16 candlepin lanes, a large redemption/video game room, party rooms and 2 pool tables. We quickly became one of the South Shore's best destinations for affordable family fun! We also have leagues for all ages!
Viking Recreation Center is owned and operated by Fred Thompson and Phil Hamric. They also own Timber Lanes in Abington. Fred operates Viking and Phil operates Timber Lanes. Together they have more years in the bowling business than either of them cares to admit.
All 16 of our lanes are equipped with bumpers which help even 2 year olds bowl without the hassle and frustration of gutter balls one after the other. They can compete right along with the rest of the family! And sometimes they win!
We also have installed the second generation Compuscore computerized scoring system. It's so easy to use and is the perfect system for Candlepin Bowling!
We do collect customer names and addresses, etc. We have a very simple privacy policy. We never rent, lease, sell, loan, trade or even let anyone else peek at our database. It's for our use only. We also never buy mailing lists. Our databases are private and password protected. We promise to never tell anyone how old you are.
We can host functions for your workplace, your clients, a family reunion, adult birthday parties and etc! Because of the varied needs of different types of groups like this, it's best to give us a call. We do these types of events all the time, we know what works and can help you plan for success.
Viking Recreation Center is a proud dues paying member of the Massachusetts Bowling Association (M.B.A.), the International Candlepin Bowling Association (I.C.B.A.) and the Bowling Proprietors Association of America (B.P.A.A.). Our lanes are inspected periodically by the I.C.B.A. and meet all standardization rules and regulations for the sport of Candlepin Bowling.
Many folks are curious about pinsetter equipment and what it looks like. Here are a couple of photos of our pinsetter area.
